Getting started

  1. Install Mint Cart Drawer from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a setup checklist.
  2. Turn on the drawer: click Turn on the app embed on the app home. Your theme editor opens with the “Mint Cart Drawer” embed switched on; click Save. Add something to the cart in your store: the drawer opens.
  3. Drawer page: colours, texts and what the drawer shows, with a live preview.
  4. Progress bar and rewards page: the free-shipping goal, and (Pro) up to 4 rewards.
  5. Add-ons page (Pro): recommended products, order note, discount code field, terms checkbox and the sticky add-to-cart bar.

How the drawer fits your theme

  • It opens instead of your theme's cart: after add to cart, from the cart icon, and when another app opens the cart. Your theme still does the add to cart where it can, so its own checks and error messages (sold out, quantity limits) keep working; on themes that would leave the page (cart page setting, unknown themes), the drawer adds the product form itself, with everything in the form (options, quantity, line item properties, subscriptions).
  • The cart page itself is not changed. Buy it now (express) buttons on product pages are not touched.
  • The header cart count is kept up to date the way your theme expects (Shopify's cart events, Dawn's cart icon section, or a plain count). If your theme's count doesn't update, enter its CSS selector in the embed's Cart count setting.
  • If a cart button in your theme still opens the theme's cart, enter its CSS selector in the embed's Extra cart buttons setting.
  • Fallback: until the drawer has loaded, or if it can't load or runs into an error, your theme's own cart is used. Checkout is always reachable.
  • Tested with the real JavaScript of Horizon (cart drawer and cart page settings) and Dawn (drawer, popup notification and cart page settings).

Free-shipping goal

  • Shows how much more a shopper needs to spend. The goal is in your store currency and converted to the shopper's currency at your market's exchange rate.
  • Your shipping settings give it (all plans): set up a matching free rate in Settings → Shipping and delivery (rates based on order price). The bar counts the cart total after discounts, like Shopify's order-price rates.
  • Mint Cart Drawer gives it (Pro): the app's discount makes all shipping options free at checkout once the goal is reached.

Rewards (Pro)

  • Rewards are % or amount off the order, a free gift, or free shipping at a spend goal. The goal counts item prices before discounts, without free gifts (and without gift cards, unless you count them).
  • The app creates one automatic discount, Mint Cart Drawer rewards, in Discounts. It runs a Shopify Function at checkout, so rewards can't be faked from the browser. When several % or amount rewards are reached, the one with the highest goal applies; each reached free gift applies.
  • Choose on the Rewards page whether it combines with your product, order and shipping discounts. Pausing or deleting the discount in Discounts stops the rewards; saving the Rewards page turns it back on.
  • Free gifts: when the goal is reached, one unit of the gift is added with a hidden marker and the discount makes it free. It's only kept if the cart shows it free, and removed again below the goal. A shopper who removes it gets an Add your free gift button instead. The gift product must be available on your Online Store. Turn off automatic adding to always use the button.

Add-ons (Pro)

  • Recommended products come from Shopify's product recommendations (complementary products you set in the Search & Discovery app first, then related ones) or from products you choose. Products already in the cart or sold out aren't shown.
  • Discount code field: codes are applied to the cart by Shopify; a code that doesn't apply to the cart is marked as such.
  • Terms checkbox: shoppers tick it before checking out; it's never pre-ticked, and express checkout buttons stay hidden until it's ticked.
  • Sticky add-to-cart bar: appears on product pages once the shopper scrolls past your theme's Add to cart button, and presses that button. It isn't added when your theme has its own sticky bar.

Plans

  • Free: the drawer, the free-shipping bar, express checkout buttons, texts and brand colours. The drawer shows a small "Powered by Mint Cart Drawer" link at the bottom (never in checkout itself).
  • Pro ($7.99 / month, 7-day free trial): rewards, add-ons, analytics and full styling, and no "Powered by" link. One monthly price — no order limits, no fees per order.
  • Downgrading keeps your settings; rewards stop at checkout, add-ons are hidden and the "Powered by" link comes back until you upgrade again.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling removes the app embed and the reward function, so rewards stop at checkout, and your theme's own cart works as before. Your settings are deleted 48 hours later.
